Amnesia sits away from the busiest old-centre streets, which already gives it a slightly calmer feel than some of the more obvious central stops. The smaller, darker room suits people who want something a bit more tucked away rather than somewhere big, bright or constantly turning people over.
It makes more sense as somewhere to slow down for a while than purely as a quick pickup. The Herengracht location also gives you an easy route back into the canals and surrounding centre once you’re ready to move on, without dropping you straight back into the busiest tourist flow.
