Green House Pijp

The original Green House coffeeshop on Tolstraat: a calmer, more local De Pijp branch with deeper roots than the central locations.

Green House Pijp is where the Amsterdam coffeeshop story properly starts. The Tolstraat shop opened in 1992 as the first official Green House coffeeshop, and it was this location that entered the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1993 and took first prize.

That history still gives Pijp a different feel from the better-known central branches. It sits away from the busiest tourist streets, with more room to settle in and a noticeably more neighbourhood-led rhythm. Green House itself describes the menu here as slightly different from its city-centre locations because it caters more to local tastes.

For Clouded, that makes Pijp the branch to choose when you want the Green House name without making the visit about the Red Light District or a high-traffic central stop. The original hall-of-fame character, relaxed seating and Tolstraat setting give it more of a lived-in identity than a flagship-showcase feel.

It also fits naturally into a De Pijp day. Albert Cuyp, Van Woustraat and the southern canals are all close enough that Green House Pijp can sit between food, wandering and the rest of the neighbourhood rather than becoming a detour.
