The Nieuwendijk lounge is low-lit, colourful and heavily cushioned, with sofas, drinks, milkshakes and a deliberately cocooned atmosphere rather than the quick counter-and-leave setup of a coffeeshop. You bring your own cannabis rather than buying it here, then settle in for a smoke with something from the bar.

Its location a few minutes from Centraal makes it one of the easiest answers to ‘where can we go after buying?’ in the middle of town. Expect a tourist-heavy crowd and a busier atmosphere later in the day, especially when DJs are on. Come here when comfort, drinks and having somewhere you can actually stay are more important than finding the quietest room in Amsterdam.
