The Plug Utopia is the original Amsterdam home of The Plug, opened on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal in 2018. It is a compact shop rather than an all-day lounge, but the small footprint is part of the character: the focus stays on the counter, the menu and a team that has built the location into one of the city centre’s best-known modern coffeeshops.
The menu mixes Dutch staples with premium imports, hash, pre-rolls and edibles, with the higher-end Cali selection doing much of the heavy lifting for the brand’s reputation. Its position between Dam Square and the northern part of the centre makes it especially easy to work into a city-centre route without turning the stop into a detour.
